What we do
Stump Grinding done right, across metro Atlanta
After a tree comes down, the stump and surface roots are often what's left in the way of a clean lawn, a new bed, a fence line, or a patio. Grinding chews the stump down well below grade so you can replant, sod, or build over it.
The crews we connect you with grind the stump and major surface roots, leave the wood chips as backfill (or haul them away if you prefer), and clean up so the spot is ready for whatever's next.

The grindings can be left to backfill the hole, ready for topsoil.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between stump grinding and stump removal?
Grinding shreds the stump down below ground level and leaves the root system to decay naturally β it's faster, cheaper, and less invasive. Full removal pulls the entire root ball and leaves a large hole. Grinding is the right call for most yards.
How deep do you grind a stump?
Typically several inches below grade β enough to cover with topsoil and grow grass. If you're planting a new tree in the same spot, deeper grinding can be arranged.
Can you grind roots, not just the stump?
Yes β major surface roots that are lifting your lawn or hardscape can usually be ground down too.
What happens to the wood chips?
By default they backfill the hole, which settles over time. If you'd rather have a clean hole or the chips hauled off, just ask.
